CHS-V Ep. 2 - Snow Storm '08
Carmela was gone at work all day and I was stuck at home with the snow, this was the result. All these shots are taken within about a 3 block radius of our apartment, I was planning on going farther but I got tired of carrying my tripod in the snow, and my camera was getting pretty wet.

I forgot this morning in my post about the Deb Manuma piece in Flyp, that another interview that I shot with Leatrice Eiseman is also in that same issue, from p. 24-27.
I can't believe how much of the interview they used, There's over 30 minutes of the interview in there, with no B-Roll! Overall I'm really impressed with Flyp, but I can't really imagine anybody that's not in the color forecasting field watching that much content.

I interviewed Deb Manuma last Saturday for flyp media. She is the woman from the PI Article a couple of weeks ago, who was being kicked out of the rental home that was being foreclosed on, even though she always paid rent on time and had been living there for 6 years.
Turns out she found a new place to live, and has made it her personal mission to raise awareness about renters rights issues. She's even been invited down to Olympia some time this session to tell her story to the legislature.
Here's the link to her article/ interview that I shot, she is on page 3.
For anyone out there who knows about media law/ etiquette... Since flyp hired me to do this interview, I waited until the flyp article was released to post this update on Deb on here. I knew that flyp wasn't going to use the part about her getting a new house, they just wanted her back story which was already written about in the PI article above. Could I have posted the update right away, or should I have waited? I am the one that found Deb, and arranged the interview.

All of a sudden this week I have more work than I know what to do with! On Tuesday I shot an interview for FLYP Media, with a color consultant out on Bainbridge Island. It was kind of interesting I guess, the interviewer was in New York, asking questions over speaker phone. Of course I forgot my tripod, so I ended up setting my camera on a stack of books, way to go me. I'll post a link once the video is online.
Also on Tuesday I went out and shot a couple of interviews for my web series that I'm starting, CHS-V, for the Capitol Hill Seattle blog. Follow the link to read up on it. This should be a good opportunity for me to get my name out there, and hopefully do some good for the neighborhood while I'm at it. Although it's kind of bad timing that I finally decide to start it... and then I'm flooded with actual paying work, but I'm not complaining.

This isn't new, but here's a link to a trailer for The Order that I worked on a while back up in Bellingham. It was directed by Lars Simkins, the VFX guy for Handcrank Films up there in bham. Also check out the top video here, which has some before/ after green screen stuff (at about half way through) so you can see what we actually shot vs. how it looks after Lars worked his magic on it.
If you're wondering where you can see the feature, you're out of luck. We only shot the trailer.

Ok the blog is up! If you're reading this you probably know me, and are probably wondering why I of all people would have a blog. Well my plan is to use this to keep you all updated on my attempt at a freelance videographer career, and whatever else I have going on in my life. Doing this kind of work I see, hear and learn about lots of random but interesting stuff, so the topics will probably also be random but (hopefully) interesting.
